Every state has a law that protects rescuers. This is also known as the “Good Samaritan Law.” Regarding training, the law states a person who possesses an AED shall require expected users to complete successfully a course in AED/CPR that is offered or approved by the American Heart Association or another nationally recognized organization.
This class (HeartSaver Adult CPR and AED) presents information about the adult chain of survival, signs and symptoms of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, and choking. Learn to perform the steps of CPR and relief of obstructed airway. You are also trained to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), used in conjunction with CPR to treat sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) caused by ventricular fibrillation (VF).
LifeServers recommends you contact your local American Heart Association as their certification is good for 2 years. The cost is @ $40.00-$50.00 per person and they will come to your facility if training involves five or more people. The length of the class is approximately 4 hours and should include the HeartSaver AED booklet and certification card for the lay rescuer and first responder.
